Shabbat Study: Timing the Seventh Day

Section 7 of 21

Section 07

appointed time during the fullness of light of His faithful witness in the sky! (See Mazmawarath/Psalms 89:37).........

(Scriptural authority/witness #4 for yarakh reckoning the muaydim)

Yahwah's appointed times (muaydim) are interrelated with His method for reckoning time. He has created units of time known as days, weeks, khadashim (English "months"), and years that are determined by the light of His luminary in the sky, the yarakh, and not by a calendar system that is divorced from it. We know that His muaydim are reckoned in relation to days, weeks, months, and years, yet are we using the light of the yarakh as shown above in the scriptures we just looked at to determine these units of time, and thus properly reckon His muaydim?

Let's look at this a moment......The day begins with the first light of the morning; followed by night which begins with the darkness following the light of the evening and is governed by the visible light (luminary) of the yarakh; the khadash or month begins with the first visible light (sliver) of the yarakh; and the year begins with the abyab (bārley). (In Shamwath/Exodus 12:2 it says that the khadash abyab or the first sliver when the barley is "abyab" [mature for harvest] is the head of the year) and the first visible light (sliver) of the yarakh.......what about the week? Has Yahwah created the muayd of "six days you shall work and the seventh is a Shabath of rest"....that unit of time known as a week, to be reckoned differently without the authority of the yarakh? Do we reckon days, months (khadashim) and years according to the yarakh, and that which we call "week" (the framework of time from the beginning) reckoned a different way according to an unbroken chain of weeks on a calendar that is divorced from Yahwah's creation?

It is not sensible or orderly and it's not what He has created from the beginning for the appointed times.

Now that we've established that the yarakh exists for the muaydim and that there are enactments that are verdicts of the Alahim of Yayqab for the yarakh, let's examine what Yahwah's muaydim (appointed times) are and how they relate to how He reckons time in regard to meeting with Him.

Wiqara (Leviticus) 23:1-3

1 "And Yahwah spoke to Mashah, saying, 2 'Speak to the children of Yasharal, and say to them: 'The feasts (Heb. "muayd" - "appointed times of me") of Yahwah, which you shall proclaim (Heb. "tha'qara'i" - "you shall call out") to be a clean/pure convocation (Heb. "maqra qadash" - "called out assembly; clean/pure"). These My appointed times (Heb. "muayd" - "my appointed times"). 3 "Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Shabath of rest, a clean/pure convocation (Heb. "maqra qadash" - "called out assembly; clean/pure"). You shall do no work on it; it is the Shabath of Yahwah in all your dwellings.' "
