Ezekiel 28 — The Fall of Tyre

“You were the anointed cherub who covers; I established you;

you were on the holy mountain of The Almighty;

you walked back and forth in the midst of fiery stones.

You were perfect in your ways from the day you were created,

till iniquity was found in you.

By the abundance of your commerce you were filled with violence within, and you sinned.”

Commerce explained:

Here commerce (Hebrew rekullah) means trafficking, trade, or exchange — not evil in itself, but corrupt in motive.

The more he gained, the more he exploited.

Wealth became a weapon, trade became greed, and greed became violence.

The pattern:

Blessing → success

Success → pride

Pride → corruption

Corruption → destruction
