Section 05
⚖️ Verses 6–10 — Judgment Declared
“Therefore thus says The Almighty YHWH:
Because you have set your heart as the heart of The Almighty,
behold, I will bring strangers against you,
the most ruthless of nations.
They shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom
and defile your splendor.
They shall throw you down into the Pit,
and you shall die the death of the slain in the midst of the seas.”
Breakdown:
“Strangers” → the Babylonians, led by Nebuchadnezzar.
“Beauty of your wisdom” → the prince’s political cunning and international alliances.
“Pit” → death, the underworld, the loss of prestige.
“Will you still say before him who slays you, ‘I am a god’?
But you shall be a man, and not The Almighty, in the hand of him who slays you.”
YHWH’s challenge: “Say it again — when you bleed, when you fall, will you still call yourself divine?”
“You shall die the death of the uncircumcised by the hands of foreigners; for I have spoken,” declares The Almighty YHWH.
This phrase means he will die as one outside the covenant, dishonored and forgotten.
