Ezekiel 28 β€” The Fall of Tyre

Section 3 of 12

Section 03

πŸ’° Commerce Context β€” From Ezekiel 27

Tyre’s ships carried luxury goods from every known land:

Gold and silver from Tarshish

Ivory and ebony from Syria

Fine linen and purple dye from Egypt

Wheat, honey, oil, and balm from Judah

Horses, coral, and emeralds from Arabia and Syria

Iron, tin, and lead from Javan and Tubal

Tyre became the commercial heart of the ancient world.

But with wealth came arrogance.

Its merchants β€” and its prince β€” began to see themselves as masters of destiny.

Hence YHWH’s rebuke: β€œYou say, β€˜I am a god,’ but you are merely a man.”
