Ezekiel 28 — The Fall of Tyre

Section 2 of 12

Section 02

⚔️ Verses 1–2 — The Voice of YHWH Confronts the Prince of Tyre

The word of YHWH came to me, saying,

“Son of man, say to the prince of Tyre, ‘Thus says The Almighty YHWH:

Because your heart is lifted up, and you say, “I am a god, I sit in the seat of gods, in the midst of the seas,”

yet you are a man, and not The Almighty—though you set your heart as the heart of The Almighty…’”

Explanation:

YHWH opens by exposing the prince’s delusion. Tyre’s ruler saw himself enthroned among the seas — a metaphor for control over vast trade routes.

In modern terms: “You think you’re untouchable because your wealth spans the oceans.”

But YHWH reminds him — he is flesh, not divine.
